IC:

Character name: Princess Zelda of Hyrule
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Timeline:  Post-game, after sending Link back in time
Age: 18-19. Her actual age isn't stated in canon, but is implied to be around 16-20 years old and I sort of headcanon that she's slightly older than Link.

~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:  Note: This was taken mostly from the Super Smash Bros. games.

Magic: Zelda's most pronounced ability is her capacity to use magic.  This is what she uses to change between her regular self and her Sheik persona, since Sheikah have a number of different physical characteristics from Hylians (and because it's implied Sheik is physically male).

Zelda also has a mild psychic ability. Every so often, she will have prophetic visions in her dreams, as she did with Link and Ganondorf. In times of distress, she can also send telepathic messages, such as when she told Lnik to keep the Ocarina safe while fleeing the castle and taught him the Song of Time.

Like unicorn ponies, she has some magical telekinesis (as seen in SSB where she can foist people into the air). Her main spells are:

Din's Fire: Her offensive spell. She uses it to basically throw fireballs at people.

Farore's Wind: Can be used to teleport to places she's been before, or short distances.

Nayru's Love:
Her defensive spell. She uses this to put up a crystalline force-field around herself. This protects her from attacks for about a minute or two, where the crystal dissolves.

Her Sheik self is more nimble and ninja-like. Sheik is faster and stronger, able to use grapples, needles and throwing knives to her advantage.

Archery: During the final boss fight, Zelda shoots Light Arrows at Ganon so Link can gain the upper hand. She probably isn't that bad at shooting regular arrows, either.

Her magic can be exhausted, however. Like in all RPGs, she can recover it by either resting or brewing some potions for a quick pick-me-up.

How would they use their abilities?: For the greater good. I am totally serious. Zelda has a fierce sense of justice and cares greatly about the welfare of her people, and in canon used her powers to help link in his fight against Ganondorf. So it's not unreasonable to assume she'd use her powers to help people in general.

She is also a fan of magical duels, so there's that.
Appearance:  Can we say "magical elf princess?" Or well, Hylian. It's unclear where Hylians fall on the race spectrum, but like all Hylians, Zelda has long, prominent, elf-like ears. She also has fair, unblemished skin, golden hair, and wears a pink-and-white dress with gold jewelry. Hanging from her belt is a blue apron-like overskirt with colorful, elaborate embroidery. While mostly humanoid, her facial features are just a little bit pointed and elfin-looking to go with her ears. Pic for reference!

As Sheik, things change dramatically. Besides looking more masculine, Sheik hides everything except their eyes and heir from view. From blue, the eyes have changed to bright red, and the skin tone is much darker. There's still some blond hair sticking out, but it's much coarser than Zelda's silky hair. Sheik dresses in all-concealing white and purple cloaks, with the red eye of the Sheikah people on their chest. Pic for reference!

Background/Personality:  NOTE: I haven't played Skyward Sword yet, which is the only game that comes before this one (timeline-wise), so spare me.

Background:

The Earth was created long ago by the goddesses Din, Farore, and Nayru. Din, goddess of power, created the mountains, earth, forests and water. Nayru, the goddess of wisdom, created magic, as well as scientific laws such as gravity, time and space. Finally, Farore, goddess of courage, created people of all races and species to populate the earth and uphold the law.

In a parallel, mythical universe known as the Sacred Realm, the goddesses sealed part of their power in an entity known as the Triforce. They then ascended to the heavens. Whoever touches the Triforce makes the Sacred Realm change into a reflection of their own heart. If that person is good, the Sacred Realm will become a paradise, but if that person is evil, the Sacred Realm basically becomes hell. The Triforce can also grant any wish, but most people don't know that there is a catch.

The catch is that in order to have one's wish granted by the Triforce, one needs to hold the qualities of power, wisdom and courage in equal balance in their heart. If they don't, the Triforce will split in three parts, and the part that person gets left with is the part that they most align with. The other two parts go to others chosen by destiny as the people that most align with those specific parts of the Triforce.

Now, Ocarina of Time takes place early, early, EARLY in the history of Hyrule, almost near its founding. Hyrule was originally not a unified kingdom, but a collection of different tribes living in the same area. After hearing of the Triforce and its containment within the Sacred Realm, these tribes went into a massive civil war with each other over finding it and having a wish granted.

During this war, a Hylian woman with a young child was badly injured and fled to the Kokiri Forest, a sanctuary ruled by immortal, unaging elf-children. Though the area usually closed itself off to outsiders, the Great Deku Tree, the giant-ass tree who ruled the forest, took him in. That boy would grow up to be Link, the game's protagonist.

The races that dwelled in Hyrule were as follows: the Kokiri, who we just mentioned, the Zora (fish-people), the Gorons (rock-people), and another race that lived in the shadows, characterized by their red eyes and deadliness. Some of these shadow-people became interlopers, assassins who joined in on the fights for the Triforce. Because of the damage they caused, the ringleaders and deadliest of the fighters were banished to the Twilight Realm, another alternate universe, by the Goddesses. These became the Twili people, who don't appear and aren't relevant until the Twilight Princess game.

The others who stayed on Hyrule became the shadow people, or Sheikah. Like the other races of Hyrule, they eventually opened up alliance and relations with the Hylians. Feared because of their agility and black magic, many of them nevertheless became servants and soldiers of the Royal Family.

Anyway, back to Hyrule proper. The war waged on for some years, until Zelda's father, a Hylian chieftain/warlord, had the Temple of Time erected. This sealed the gate to the Sacred Realm. The only way to open it was with three Spiritual Stones, each given to the other races of Hyrule: the Kokiri, the Gorons and the Zora. One also needed to possess the Master Sword, an ultimate weapon, and know the Song of Time, which would be the catalyst for opening the door itself.

He then gave the Spiritual Stones to each of the respective races, in return with earning their alliance.

The idea here was that there would be no war if no one had the chance to get the Triforce for themselves.

Soon after things were getting back to normal, the King appointed an advisor named Ganondorf. Ganondorf belonged to the Gerudo, a tribe of mostly-female people in the desert just outside Hyrule's borders. Zelda suspected Ganondorf might betray her father and tried to warn him--in fact, she had foreseen Ganondorf's treachery in a dream! But because she was like, twelve at the time, her father didn't believe her.

Soon after this happened, Ganondorf went to the Deku Tree, demanding the Kokiri's Spiritual Stone. The Deku Tree refused, and Ganondorf placed a death curse upon him. The Tree sent a fairy, Navi, to be Link's ally and guardian, and for Link to go inside him to break the curse. Link did all he could, but it was too late. Before the Deku Tree died, he entrusted the Kokiri's Emerald upon him, telling him to go find the princess Zelda.

Sure enough, Link does find Zelda after sneaking into the castle's gardens. Along with her Sheikah nursemaid and bodyguard, Impa, Zelda has been waiting for him, and tells him about her prophecy and Ganondorf's betrayal. She then requests that Link find the other Spiritual Stones and open the door to the Temple of Time, so that he can obtain the Triforce before Ganondorf does. So Link goes on a mission to find the other two stones, fighting monsters taking breaks with silly sidequests. After he returns to Hyrule Castle with all three stones in tow, Ganondorf quickly stages a coup, reaching the Sacred Realm, touching the Triforce, and taking Hyrule over, making what was once a prosperous kingdom into a ReDead-infested hellhole.

Zelda's parents, the king and queen of Hyrule, were killed in the coup.

Impa took Zelda and fled the castle. Before leaving her home for good, she threw the Ocarina of Time into the moat so that Ganondorf could never find it on her person. The evil king himself pursued her for some time, but he never found her.

Meanwhile, Link found the Ocarina of Time and had the Song of Time telepathically taught to him by Zelda. He then pulled the Master Sword out of the Pedestal of Time in the Temple of Time, but because he was too young to be the Hero of Time, he was magically put in a seven-year coma in the Sacred Realm.

As for Zelda? She magically transformed herself into a young Sheikah man by the name of Sheik, and lived with Impa in hiding. Since her alter ego was a Sheikah, and since Impa had been her nursemaid all her life,  the cover story was most likely that Impa was the youth's mother. (note: I headcanoned this, mostly...)

Once Link is awakened from his seven-year slumber, he is greeted by Rauru, the Sage of Light. Rauru explains to him that Ganondorf is oppressing all the races of Hyrule, and the only way to stop him is to awaken the Seven Sages of the Sacred Realm. While each of these Sages already exist as real people in the real world, their "essence" , as it were, can only be unlocked at the heart of some very treacherous dungeons. Rauru then transported Link back to the Temple of Time, where Sheik had been waiting for him. Sheik tells Link more about the Seven Sages, then resolves to help Link on his quest to free them all. All this time, Sheik has been concentrating on keeping these remaining sages alive. One of them, the Princess of the Zora, had to be rescued after her underwater kingdom was turned to ice, and the others had to be protected after their homes were infested by monsters.

One by one, Sheik aids Link in his quest to go to each temple, teaching Link the songs needed to unlock the doors and helping him get to critical locations and items. And one by one, thanks to their joint effort, the Sages were awakened. After Link goes to the Temple of Time again, preparing for his final showdown with Ganondorf, Sheik reveals her true identity as Princess Zelda, and also leader of the seven Sages, and gives Link some Arrows of Light to help defeat Ganondorf. She also tells Link about the legend of the Triforce. Since Ganon, like most people, was not in balance, all he was left with was the Triforce of Power. Zelda was left with Wisdom, and Link with Courage.

Unfortunately, Ganondorf was listening in on their conversation, and captures Zelda, imprisoning her in a crystal. Knowing Link's nature would make him want to save her, he dares him to duel to rescue her. This is, of course, a trap: what Ganondorf really wants is to reunite all three pieces of the Triforce to unlock its true power.

With the help of the Sages, Link broke down the barriers to Ganondorf's throne room. He defeated Ganondorf in battle there and released Zelda from her crystal prison. Anxious to take them with him to death, Ganondorf caused the castle to crumble-but Link and Zelda escaped.

Not yet ready to die, Ganondorf used the Triforce of Power to transform himself into a demon known as Ganon. He knocked the Master Sword out of Link's hand and out of his reach, forcing him to fight with other weapons. Zelda, now free, aided Link by shooting Light Arrows at Ganon to weaken him. After Ganon was defeated, Zelda, along with the other Sages, sealed him into the Sacred Realm, which then became the Dark World. With Ganon defeated and the people of Hyrule celebrating their liberation, Zelda used the Ocarina of Time to return Link to childhood, so that he might make up the seven years he missed.

Personality:

First and foremost: Zelda is indeed kind and pure-hearted like the princesses in fairy tales. But stupid and naive she is not. She partially blames herself for Ganon predicting her moves when she was twelve, and for letting her guard down when she really shouldn't have. But rather than spending her years in hiding waiting for a hero, she refined her magical and combative skills, gathering information about Ganon's plans and aiding Link wherever she could. She also has some political savvy: she knows that her father isn't perfect and the reasons (economically and politically) why the other races have allied themselves with him. And, while not paranoid, she's not one to blindly trust people. Remember, she aligns most with the Triforce of Wisdom. Sensible and mostly level-headed (though she does sometimes overthink things and get ahead of herself), she'll treat everyone courteously at first. But as soon as she has reason for suspicion she'll back out completely.

Wise beyond her years and surprisingly shrewd, she has a very vested interest in being a good, benevolent queen one day. She despises oppression and the idea of anyone being treated unfairly.

Finally, as for personal interests: there's an Easter Egg where one of the Gossip Stones (stones hidden around town that reveal information about people) says that contrary to her elegant appearance, Zelda is actually a bit of a tomboy. I took this at face value. She is very interested in archery, as well as horseback riding! She also probably doesn't mind the outdoors at all, as she was first seen in the castle garden. In bother her regular form and her Sheik persona, she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty: and as Sheik, she spent a lot of time in dungeons that would likely kill the average Joe. And even if she didn't, well, she spent a significant portion of her life living in hiding as a commoner.

Zelda is also well-educated by the standards of her medieval fantasy setting. Whether or not most Hylians can read or write, she at least can. Because of her being a Sage, and because of her allegiance with the Goddess Nayru, she is very interested in the history and mythology of Hyrule and its neighboring kingdoms, as well as the studies of magic and science.

As for music, she canonically can play both the ocarina and the lyre.

Why should that character be in this game: For OCs only.

Why do you want to continue their history here: For characters from other games only.

For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play:

Have you read up on how the game works?: FlamingFerret, missions, stealing, and opening her own business!

1st person sample:  [Video/Zelda]

[There's a young elflike lady in an expensive-looking pink dress and gold accessories fiddling with the Guide. She looks up for a bit, then makes a very, very unsure face at the screen.]

refuse to believe my realm has been destroyed. There's no proof for it anywhere. And all the possible motives I can think of why someone would do such a thing--

[ah, but she's getting ahead of herself here, and she catches it just in time.]

I. I'm sorry. I haven't properly introduced myself.

My name is Zelda of Hyrule.

[she takes a moment to look at the rooms list.]

Vegeta? Professor Dumbledore? Scootaloo? It likes like we'll be sharing a room...don't mind me if I'm a little late.

[Zelda's got some exploring to do.]

3rd person sample: [Sheik]

They put a fish in her ear. That wasn't the worst of the situation. The more she lurked in the hallways of the Thor, the more she became aware of a totally painful fact: Most of the refugees here seemed totally at ease. Did they know something she didn't? Had they simply resigned themselves to having their worlds destroyed? She couldn't let herself sink into the void like that. It was wrong; if this Magrathea really did exist, she was going to try her damndest to restore Hyrule. With or without the Hero of Time or her Sages, it had to be done!

Of course, rebuilding Hyrule meant that she had to first earn the money to pay the Magratheans...she perused the mission postings to see if there was anything she could take. The diplomatic positions were tantalizing, but she didn't have enough experience. Cupcake topper? Maybe. Candystripper-ah, no. Maybe if nothing else was open, she could be a waitress or a  librarian, something practical... ah. With the job she wanted right ahead of her, Zelda clicked the posting, and anticipated her new career as a

Vogon Toilet Scrubber. Zelda had heard of those glitches. Maybe it was just a matter of time before one of them happened to her.

...well, she supposed it could be worse. Those stripper jobs were glitching up awfully fast.

Questions?: If I get accepted, I'll be posting two accounts to the acceptance reply: this one and the one for Sheik. Since they're both the same person and she'll be making posts/logs as both identities, can you accept both accounts into the comms?
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Yup!
